Versatile Alloys
Electrical & Heat Conductivity
Copper alloys, including copper-nickel, are highly versatile engineering materials suitable for numerous commercial applications.
Copper has existed for thousands of years and is a popular commercial product today. The alloy offers performance capabilities that are attractive to numerous applications. Features include excellent electrical and heat conductivity, good machinability and superior corrosion resistance.
Corrosion Resistance
Copper alloys are known for excellent oxidation corrosion resistance and perform well in marine atmospheres. Copper-nickel alloys (or cupronickel) offer superior resistance to saltwater. After prolonged exposure to atmospheric elements, the material's surface forms a blue-green coating (or patina).
Surface Coating
The alloy will benefit from surface coating to maintain an acceptable aesthetic appearance.
View RangeThe First Metal
Copper was the first metal ever used by humans more than 10,000 years ago.
It took another 5,000 years before copper lost its exclusivity as the only metal on the planet when gold first appeared. Copper was used for decorative items, weapons, and farming tools, and its uses evolved over time.
Today, copper is still one of the world's most popular alloys, finding use in industries such as electronics.
