2219 is an age hardenable heat treatable aluminium alloy which we stock and supply as forgings.
The alloy finds typical use in high-temperature applications, particularly in aerospace. Subsequent heat treatment results in an alloy with high strength but reduced ductility. Attractive characteristics include high-stress corrosion resistance and fracture toughness. Alloy 2219 is more difficult to weld when compared to other aluminium grades and has lower general corrosion resistance though cladding may resolve this.
